WELCOME TO FIRST PRESBYTERIAN PRESCHOOL OF GRAPEVINE!

Our hope is that you feel the warmth, love, and family atmosphere created at our school. We have provided Early Education in our community since 1984, and our philosophy is that children learn through their play. It is our goal to develop whole children through creative learning, academic skills, social skills positive self-image and self-expression. We believe in relationships and partnerships between parents and the school, among our teachers and administration, and among the children who learn and play together. We look forward to being able to provide your child with a safe and nurturing experience, and we thank you for letting us be a part of this important foundational block in your child's education.

MORNING PRESCHOOL PROGRAM

The doors to the preschool open at 8:45 am each morning.  Instruction begins at 9:00 am.  Children engage in a variety of hands-on, developmentally appropriate activities throughout the time they are with us.  A typical day consists of center time, circle time, snack, outside play, story time and Bible lesson.

Center Time

Children rotate through developmentally appropriate learning centers with a daily theme.  There is a math center, literacy center, science center, reading center, manipulatives center, art exploration center, blocks and building center and dramatic play center.  Center time gives children the opportunity to learn new concepts, and to practice new skills. Centers also give the teacher time to observe students as they explore and provides the opportunity to work with individual students or with small groups to reinforce concepts.

Circle Time

Children gather on the carpet for circle time where the teacher leads students through calendar and weather time.  This is also a time for the teacher to introduce new concepts or to review things previously learned.

DISCOVERY GARDEN

Children take an active part in learning about the beauty of God's work by planting flowers and watching them grow and attract butterflies throughout the year.

Outside PlaY

We have a large shaded playground with lots of room to run, to climb and to enjoy imaginative play.  In addition to play equipment where children can crawl through tunnels and slide down slides, we also offer a rock box for digging, a playhouse for imaginative play, activity panels which allow children to have fun with musical sounds, matching and more, as well as a trike track for our Little Tikes cars so children can practice "driving" in our little city.

Story Time

Story time is a magical experience for children this age.  Each day your child is with us, they will participate in story time where the teacher will read to the children or tell a story using felt pieces or puppets.

Teachers will also spend time each day with students teaching them about God's love through a developmentally appropriate Bible lesson.

SNACK TIME

Children are offered a daily snack provided by the preschool.

MORNING PRESCHOOL ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

Music- In addition to regular classroom music, our music teacher will spend time every week with each class. Children will be introduced to rhythm and movement activities, musical instruments and special songs.

Science- Each week all classes will take part in a hands-on science class conducted by our science teacher.  The curriculum is designed to teach children the wonder of God's creation and to teach them that they are equipped to be scientists.  Children will study the five senses, states of matter, properties of air and water, metamorphosis of the butterfly and frog, the human body, machines, magnets and outer space.

Chapel- Children attend chapel weekly.  The service consists of songs, prayer and a short Bible lesson.

Extended Day Program

Extended Day Program (E.D.P.) is an afternoon program available for children enrolled in our Morning Preschool Program. Children enrolled in our E.D.P. attend Lunch Bunch from 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm.  Following Lunch Bunch is a quiet time, to allow children to rest. All children attending E.D.P. will need to provide a nap mat. After quiet time, E.D.P. attendees will have ample time for outdoor play and discovery. E.D.P. extends the school day to 2:30pm for participating students. Flexible 1-5 day a week options available.
